Al-Mirghani Street - Heliopolis
One of the longest streets in Heliopolis, extending from Roxy Square, passing by the Ittihadiya Palace, then deviating to intersect with Al-Thawra Road, then Omar Street in Al-Khattab Street until it ends at the wall of Almaza Airport at Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Street.

Sayyid Ali Al-Mirghani (1873-1968) is a Sudanese religious and political leader. A descendant of the Al-Mirghani family, known in Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea, a number of whose members were known for studying Islamic sciences and were concerned with spreading Islam. His family settled in Kassala and Suakin, and was hostile to the Mahdists and attracted a number of residents of the East to the Khatmiyya order.
Sayyid Ali Al-Mirghani was born on Masawi Island in northern Sudan and moved from there to Kassala city, then left with his father Muhammad Osman to Suakin where he studied Islamic sciences at the hands of his uncle Sayyid Taj Al-Sir Al-Mirghani and from there to Egypt, where he completed his studies at Al-Azhar until he obtained a world degree and returned to Sudan in 1901. He headed the delegation that went to Britain to negotiate with the British about the future of Sudan. He told them about the future of Sudan and the necessity of its belonging to the Arab and Islamic world and its liberation from foreign guardianship. He was a supporter of the Unionists and worked with President Ismail Al-Azhari, who had accompanied him on the trip to Britain while he was a school student, taking his mother on the ship. He established the first Sudanese newspaper, "Voice of Sudan", and chose an editor-in-chief from southern Sudan who had no party affiliations. He was interested in science. He died in 1968 and was buried in his mosque in Khartoum Bahri.
