The history of the neighborhood goes back more than a hundred years, as it was inhabited by foreigners coming to work in Egypt, the first and most prominent of whom was the wealthy Belgian baron and owner of major projects and companies; Baron Empain, and the residents of the neighborhood were keen to imitate their homes and European environment, so they built palaces and villas in the European architectural style, and for that they brought in the most prominent European engineers.
